South Dade Area 24 Hour Room Ad Hoc Subcommittee

Acknowledging how difficult December holidays can be for many addicts, every year the South Dade Area of Narcotics Anonymous hosts a "24 Hour Room". This is a place where addicts can go and spend time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The period usually lasts for about 10-11 days, beginning around Dec. 22nd and ending around Jan 1st.

During those days NA groups do group shifts and host meetings. Some groups may host more than one meeting. Meetings usually run (for an hour) between noon and 10 p.m. every day.

The 24 Hour Room is run by addicts for addicts. Individual addicts can volunteer for 4-hour personal shifts which run 24 hours a day. During personal shifts volunteers make sure supplies (ice, cups, etc.) are available and that all areas are clean.

There's a "living-room" with tables in which addicts can play table games. There's food, fun, and fellowship. Together, we help each other stay clean one day at a time.

This ad-hoc committee is set up in October of each year. See flyer for meeting schedule
