NEWS:

• In the spirit of holiday giving, consider giving back by carrying the message to a treatment center or jail. Meeting chairpersons are needed for existing meetings and new meetings at various treatment centers and other facilities. Chairpersons need at least a year clean, and co-chairs need six months.

• December 9: Next H&I Subcommittee Meeting 7 p.m. at the South Miami Lutheran Church (small meeting room on SW 72nd Ave.)

The South Dade Area Hospitals and Institutions (H&I) Subcommittee is made up of Narcotics Anonymous members who initiate, coordinate and conduct local NA efforts to carry the message of recovery to addicts in treatment centers, jails and other institutions.

We welcome your efforts to carry the message and give back to NA. It is not necessary to have been confined to a treatment center or jail to do H&I service. Under our guidelines, if you have more than 12 months clean you can serve as chairman of a weekly meeting. An NA member with more than six months clean can help carry the message by serving as a co-chair or speaking at a treatment center or jail.

The H&I Subcommittee meets the second Sunday of every month at 7:00 PM at South Miami Lutheran Church, SW 72nd Street and 72nd Ave.

The H&I message is the same as the NA message: “An addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live.” H&I service offers addicts an opportunity to build and demonstrate gratitude, fulfill responsibility, and share the NA message. It is an effective tool that helps us stay clean, and keeps us coming back.

Available Positions & Getting Involved:

We have 18 meetings in 10 facilities. We have meetings that we need to obtain speakers for, some of which are at AGAPE and must be filled by female volunteers.
